Coveted "5 Star GOLD Award" from the English Tourist Board; also Trip Advisor "Award for Excellence"
English Tourist Board “ROSE” award in recognition of excellent customer service.
Lavenham is a stunning mediaeval village in the heart of Suffolk, East Anglia. The cottage is within a 2 minute walk of excellent pubs, restaurants and village shops. Private parking next to the cottages is provided ....a key requirement in the village. There are over 200 listed buildings in the village, including Blaize Barn.
Short breaks are a speciality and are particularly popular in the winter months when the real fires, luxury furnishings, SKY TV, internet, local walks and excellent local restaurants, pubs and tea shops are key features. Short breaks are available all year round with guests arriving on Monday (for a 4 day mid week break) or Friday (or a 2/3 night weekend break). Guests staying for Fri/Sat night short breaks are welcome to stay in their cottage until late on Sunday to get the full benefit of their stay.
The cottage is very popular for honeymoons, anniversaries and birthday treats.
Blaize Barn has one of its two bedrooms and the bathroom on the ground floor. We welcome enquiries about its suitability for guests with limited mobility.
Blaize Barn will re-open with effect from 4th July. However, it will be on a significantly different Covid responsive basis. The following are the key features which reflect both latest Government advice and best practice. Please call us on 01787 247402 rather than booking on-line if you are interested to make a booking and we can provide more detail
There will be at least 4 days between each booking allowing for a full clean and disinfection, details of which will be provided. (eg all “touch points” such as light switches, handrails and door handles will be subject to special attention) Lennie, our housekeeper, will wear full protective clothing during cleaning (gloves, mask & disposable apron for the benefit of both guests and herself) and it will be disposed with after each clean. The cleaning products we use have been upgraded (eg hospital standard viral cleaners).
We will achieve the 4 day gap by only accepting bookings which start on Friday and end on a Sunday or Monday (eg 2, 3 or 10 night bookings). Guests will leave on a Sunday or Monday. Lennie will clean on the Thursday, new guests will arrive on the Friday at 4pm
Guests will be asked to assist (eg put all sheets and towels into plastic bags, to be provided, on departure.
We will provide additional cleaning materials and other safety products in the Barn (eg hand sanitizer, hand towels, kitchen roll)
Before you make a booking we will explain what must happen if any guest develops covid like symptoms
We are expecting that most bookings will be at short notice and therefore involve full payment at the time of booking. Given the degree of uncertainty that we are all facing we will, for holidays up to the end of October, make 80% refunds in the event of cancellation up to 48 hours before normal arrival time on the Friday
We will remove the usual guide-books from the cottage but we will be available to provide information, notably on great walks in and around Lavenham and other places to visit by car and that will not be crowded
A few other points that are worth noting:
Blaize Barn suits social distancing …. it is a detached cottage with off street parking and with its own gardens …. but is close to the heart of the village
Lavenham is blessed with several good restaurants within a 5-minute walk with outside dining space and we are expecting them to on 4th July also. Most are providing takeaway options already. Check lovelavenham.co.uk
The local Co-op (150 yards walk) stocks an excellent range of “Cooks” frozen meals for 2 or 4
Our village butcher (award winning), Co-op and baker are all open and operating to high queuing & serving standards …. it’s a village so no crowding!
